Parents
To ensure competition nights run efficiently and finish at a reasonable time, the assistance of parents/carers is essential.
Our young athletes get far more out of Little Athletics with their parents encouragement and participation.
The Goodna Centre requests that parents participates and assists with capturing results, raking sand pits and collecting equipment etc as well as place judging as required in your athletes groups on at least 10 occations through the season. Each group will have a parent volanteer age marshal who will lead the group and assign tasks.
Please note, the duties are not difficult and assistance from centre management is available.
Ways to Help
- Set up and pack up each week.
- Every age group must have an Age Marshall.
- The Age Marshall ensures the group gets to their events and records their event results.
- Parents are required to assist the Age Marshalls.
- Throw and jump events need parents to retrieve the sporting equipment, spike, measure, rake the pits and set the high jump bars.
- Track events need Timekeepers and Place Judges.
- Help is required in the canteen with cooking and serving.
Please Note : Unless pre-organised with centre management, parents/carers need to be at the oval whilst the athlete is competing. Of course althletes can be left with other parents provided this has been agreed to by both parties. Athletes in the under 14 to under 17 age groups can be left unattended, however bear in mind that some parent help is required to run events as detailed above.
